Beauty Emergency Solved: No Nail Polish Remover

In the last few weeks, I haven been putting off buying some much needed supplies from the drugstore. I have been running low on everything: from cotton balls, Qtips, tissue and the like. I've also been very dangerously low on nail polish remove, but I figure the last 5 drops I have in the bottle will certainly last me a few more weeks. Well, it did... until it ran out.

Today, my nails are just so horribly ugly due in fact of negligence and also the lack of nail polish remover - LOOK!

Pardon the Ugly Nails...

I need to remove these ugly looking varnish I had once called "art" - yet I've ran out of polish removers. I had to improvise.

I was able to discover a new methods of removing nail polish - even without nail polish removers - with very very minimal (if any, I wouldn't know) damage to your nails. You can certainly file your nails until the varnish chips off, but that would damage the nails so much, and I've already brittle nails.

What you'll are are just three very common things, which I think every girl will bound to have: cotton, clear nail polish, alcohol. That's it!

First, prepare your cotton by soaking it with alcohol. I just do this to add strength and to help remove the old nail polish. Then, just apply the clear nail polish over the old nail polish. Then wait maybe 2 seconds and wipe off. The old nail polish should mostly come off.

If they don't all come off, then just repeat until it's all gone.I did this on my entire hands and feet and works like a charm.

So the next time you run out of nail polish remover, this is one way to remove your old ugly nail polish with very minimal damage to your nails. Ofcourse, nothing beats having the real nail polish remover - one swipe and its gone, but it helps having an alternative.

Hope this helps you guys out!

Levi's Curve ID: Custom Fit Jeans

I've recently discovered Levi's new line of jeans which you can customize using their "Curve ID"

Basically, the Curve ID can be obtained by taking a very short quiz about your shape, bum, thighs and basic jean problems. After taking the quiz, Levi's is going to take your answers and give you a Curve ID which is customized to your need.

You can then shop their line of jeans using your Curve ID - which you can be assured will be addressing your exact fit needs and will address your annoying jean problems.

Obviously, you don't need to be curvy in order to take advantage of this feature, which is great because curvy ladies aren't the only ones with jean problems.

You can head on over to Levi's website if you're interested, or even just curious to know your Curve ID

My Curve ID is BOLD CURVE

5 Spring Fashion Ideas: Spring Jacket

I initially wanted to call this the "5 Spring Must-Haves" however, I realized that my must-have might not necessarily be someone else's must have. So I am just calling this 5 Spring Fashion Ideas.

The first of this series are the Spring Jackets. Year after year we anticipate the coming of spring - finally it's time to pack away the winter jackets and out come the spring jackets. This year, there are three new styles that I'm really liking for Spring that I haven't already got.

The Parka

I just love this look - very downtown chic and very carefree. It's definitely on the casual side, so I wouldn't expect to wear these for a date or a night time event - more like for a trip to the mall or movies or maybe a leisure walk in the park.

UO, ASOS, LULUs

The Updated Trench

A little bit of update on the classic trench can do so much. I love the more feminine feel of these trenches and these you can pair with more dressy outfits as well.

The Cape / Poncho

Now this is something more bold and fashionable, and maybe a bit trendy as well. Definitely not something I would wear on a cold rainy day. But I'm liking the simplicity of this style and it's just an easy throw on kind of piece. You can tell this is a really lazy comfortable style, but really it would pose the opposite effect. The poncho and really pump up an otherwise really boring outfit because of its form and design.

ASOS, FOREVER21, UO

What's your favorite spring jacket style?

Outfit Du Jour: Blame It On The Weatherman

According to the weather forecast for today, temperature will be in the high 40s to 50s, but will feel like mid 40s...

What I have come to realize is not to trust the weatherman. Time and time again, I have been let down by these so-called "accurate" forecasts. It felt nothing like 40s today, it feels like damn 30s!

Needless to say, I was freezing my ass... or should I say "legs" off! I need to get me one of those thermometer that reads inside and outside temperature.

Sole Society by Hautelook: For Shoe Lovers

I just received an email from Hautelook introducing me to their new "division" called Sole Society. Unlike Hautelook, this site will be focusing on shoes... shoe site for shoe lovers.

When you first sign up, you will be answering a few questions to determine what type of style you have. Then they will customize the designer shoes they feature for you, so it's in line with your own personal style.

Oh, most importantly, nothing over $49.95 plus free shipping!

It's a month to month thing, so they choose a bunch of styles for you for that entire month, if you like nothing, then you can skip that month, basically you are not required to buy - which is awesome in my books.

So, apparently, based on my answers on the style quiz, my style is "Feminine, Bohemian, Trendy"... hmm... bohemian?

If you want to check it out, here's MY invite link, if you don't mind: http://www.solesociety.com/

If you do, then just head over to www.solesociety.com I'm excited to see my customized picks. =)

Outfit Du Jour: Lazy Mondays

{wholesale-dress.net shirt, black jeans, Steve Madden Boots, Forever 21 Belt, H&M crochet hat}

From lazy Sundays to lazy Mondays. Don't you just hate Mondays?! I know I do! I know this outfit isn't as blog worthy as others' but I guess I just want to show how waking up late on Mondays without any outfit plans can result to.

TIP: How to keep fashion jewelry from tarnishing

I just thought I'd share a little trick I learned from my mom...

We all buy jewelry from places like Forever21 or H&M, and although the jewelries are very cheap and affordable, once it tarnishes, you can't replace it anymore... especially with fast fashion stores - once its gone, its gone.

Sometimes, I would buy something from F21 and would really love it, so I'd like to keep on using them for longer. Hope this tip will work for you and hope this helps.

Let me know what you guys think.

Outfit Du Jour: Back to Coldsville

Just when you thought it was almost spring time, the cold comes creeping back in. Regardless, I really wanted to wear the new top that I got from Marshalls... its a really nice sweater with lace inserts on the shoulder area, as well as back. I thought this was really pretty and romantic looking and this will definitely get a ton of wear from me.

Sorry for the picture quality and lighting... I'm taking photos through the reflection of my full length mirror. I don't know how else to do it! I have to do it quick in the morning and rush out to work... ☺

Top: Marshalls. Jeggings: from work. Boots: from work. Necklace: Brooklyn flea market.

Here's me with my hair up.

Fall Trend: Fun Fur Colors

There were tons of showing of fur during the recent Fall 2011 fashion week - be it New York or London or Paris. Evidently, the luxurious look of fur is not going anywhere anytime soon.

However this time the fur has taken a fun transformation - from being dark neutral colors, to a really colorful, almost whimsical and springy colors. Very seldom do we see bright colors for fall, especially not on fur, so this is a really fun transformation on the fur trend.

Colors on fur may not be easy to wear for some, but I felt a couple of designers did it perfectly, so normal people (meaning non-model-like) can actually pull it off without looking like clowns.

 All photos from STYLE.COM

Everything you see above I feel are really very wearable. From the ombre fur coat: Prabal Gurung, Fendi's fun mix of fur colors on the coat-vest, Prada's long hair fur with really nice muted pastel colors, to Anna Sui's nice touch of colors to the white fur.

Overall, I think this is something that can really catch on. What do you think of this trend? Would you wear it?

Anna Sui Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

I am loving the Anna Sui Fall 2011 RTW collection... The color combination and prints on everything is just so fresh, granted may be hard to pull-off, but that's what makes it so fun. Sometimes, it's nice to just step out of your comfort zone, have fun, and just do it!

Outfit Du Jour: Spring-Like Weather

Finally we are having some pretty decent weather here in New York. I'm getting so tired of winter and I just can't wait to be able to wear my lighter weight jackets again.

So taking advantage of the nice weather, we went out to grab a late lunch and have a stroll. My BF wanted to go try out the newly opened Dallas BBQ at the mall, so perfect opportunity to go try it out today.

Wearing: Banana Republic Leather Jacket, Unnecessary Clothing Top, Denim Shorts, Black Tights, Zara Flat Boot, Leopard scarf

The new Dallas BBQ was humongous! We were seated near the front, so it still stretches out to the back.

We had a virgin Pina Coladas and Passion Fruit drink - Texas Size! 20oz of drink! Gigantic. lols

Dian Von Furstenberg: Fall 2011 RTW

I just love DvF... she designs everything so elegantly and yet so fashion and so wearable... always keeping the muse in mind. I'm very into the shapes and silhouettes that she creates, and she speaks very eloquently... It makes me want to follow suit... lols..

I don't always share musings on runway fashion shows because I feel there are other bloggers who are better feature writers and more fashionable than I am, but I really did very much liked her collection.

What do you think of DvF's Fall ready-to-wear collection?

Dolce Vita For Target: Spring/Summer 2011

I am loving the Dolce Vita for Target Spring collection. I thought they were right on with their wedges - especially those with the jute wedges.

Also, since this is a target collaboration, we all know how affordable its going to be. These styles will range from $24.99 to $29.99 - not bad at all!

The only part I found a little annoying is I think you can only purchase this through their website (Target). I tried to find a branch near me that would carry these but their website says "online only". I juts like having the option to go to a store and buy it there rather than having to pay for shipping fee and having no choice for it.

Regardless, I am personally going to get one of these in the nude color!

What do you think of them?

Craving For: River Island Boots

I have to be good... I can't be shopping anymore because I'm up to my limit for this month... but I am so craving for these River Island Boots!

I can't be sure whether I'm happy they don't ship to US so I won't be tempted to shop, or whether I'm so bummed because eventually I CAN shop again and I won;t be able to purchase these... sigh....

I'm digging all these styles with sherling lining. It looks so chic - and it keeps your feet warm too!

Wholesale-dress.net : Review

Happy Holidays Everyone!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's celebration.
♥♥♥

It's been a little while since I've last made a post. The post-holiday has really made me want to just kick back and hibernate.

Anyway, I've been wanting to post a review on the recent purchase I made from wholesale-dress.net (blog post here) - I stopped procrastinating and finally got around to doing it. Hurray!

So, I submitted my order from the wholesale-dress.net  site on Dec. 10, 2010, and they shipped out my order by FedEx on December 14, 2010. When I first tracked down my order, it was supposed to be delivered on December 17 (which is really quite fast), however due to an incorrect address labeled on the box (the room # wasn't included) I had to sort it our with FedEx and finally got my package on December 21st.

Alright enough of that, on to the clothing...

Turtleneck Sweater Dress

Quality:   ♥♥♥♥♡
       Fit:   ♥♥♥♥♥

Overall, I like this sweater dress. The material is ok, not as soft as I would've liked but its ok. This sweater came in only in one size, but I would say it fits like a US size M - so it's a little big on me since I'm a little petite, but I like it loose so it works out. Most of all, the actual sweater looks exactly like the photo on the website - that's a big plus in my book.

Round Neck Sweater

Quality:   ♥♥♥♥♡
       Fit:   ♥♥♥♥♥

This one I really like. It came on more mustard-y that on the photo, but I like it. Quality is almost the same as the first sweater. This also came in only in one size - so again I would say it fits like a size M - however, I like it a little loose so no complaints.

Polka Dots Sweater Dress

Quality:   ♥♥♥♥
       Fit:   ♥♥♥♥♥

This one I absolutely love. The quality of the sweater is really soft and it flows nicely around the body. My photo don't do it justice (room was really dark) but it looks exactly like the photo on the website. Oh, this one had a dolman sleeve which can't be seen on either photos. Fit wise, again, its a little on the loose side but I like it that way.

Nautical Stripe Sweater

Quality:   ♥♥♥
       Fit:   ♥♥♥

This sweater I'm not a huge fan of. I don't like the quality, i feel like its too thin. The material is a loose-knit fabric - which is alright but I was expecting something else because of the photo on the website.

Also, the length of the sweater is a little bit short - and that's saying something because I'm a petite girl. I was just expecting something that'll hit somewhere by the hip... this one lands right by the waist.

Hooded Parka

Quality:   ♥♥♥
       Fit:   ♥♥♥

This is another piece that I loved. The quality is good - its a thick jersey material - which'll really keep me warm during the in between months. Also, the length is perfect, it hits somewhere around below the hip, kind of like what is shown on the website photo. It's just slightly big on me since this also came in one size only.

One thing though, the hood is a little small, I'm sure I don't just have a big head...

Jacket with Sherling Collar

Quality:
       Fit:   ♥♥♥

This is the absolute disappointment of all. This came in a micro-suede like material! I mean, seriously, the website photo looks like its made of faux leather with nice faux fur - and it came in in really poorly finished jacket with thread hanging all over, fur falling off, material made of thin faux suede (kinda like what they use fr boots),and aweful color. It's only redeeming quality is that it fits perfect on me, but that's it.

High Waisted Belter Faux Leather Shorts

Quality:
       Fit:   ♥♥♥

This one is nice, not as nice as I would've imagined (I was thinking more like Zara, so yeah should not expect that next time). The quality itself is just alright. The fit is a lot big on me...maybe I'm just really short, but even at waist-length, it's way long. Color-wise, it's the same as the photo and overall it looks like how it should based on the photo on the website.

Knitted Scarf

Quality:
       Fit:   ♥♥♥

Nothing much to say. It did not come in the same material as what is shown on the website photo, and I feel it's shorter and not as wide as on the photo. However, it's a scarf and it serves it purpose. Overall, It's acceptable for me.

Owl Earring & Retro Style Earring

Owl - Quality:
 Retro-style - Quality:

Both the earring came in really nicely. The owl came in with perfect quality, but the retro one is a little less than perfect, but that's juts nit-picking it. That said, I really didn't mind the imperfections for the amount I paid for, and I've already worn these many times and have received complements on them.

So there you go. I hope this helps someone who's debating whether to buy from wholesale-dress.net or not.

Overall, I do recommend to purchase from this website, although since you are paying super low prices just don't expect super top quality for them. Also, the actual merchandise may or may not look exactly like the photo on their website, but it'll be close - just bear this in mind.

Winter Fashion: Layering

Winter time is here! Your closet is probably now filled with sweaters, sweater dresses, thick knit tights, winter jackets, and so on.

One of the most difficult part of the winter season is figuring out how to stay warm but still looking nice and stylish. Some would not be as willing to sacrifice their warmth just to look stylish, so the easiest thing to do is to just pile on clothing and get it over with.

But there's really no need to sacrifice. There are easy ways to layer clothing - keeping you nice and warm, but still looking pretty and stylish.

I've come up with three scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: It's the weekend. It too cold to go outside, but you really want to go to the mall, and besides, its just nearby. Or you really want to try this new restaurant everyone has been raving about, its just a few block away. Although you are only going a short distance to your house, its no excuse to go out almost in your pajamas. Your destination may be nearby, but no one knows that but you.

Start off with a tank top and some legging - This will be the first layer. Then add a long flowy cardigan over the tank to create some dimension. The Third layer will be to add a thick knit sweater. These three layers should really give you a lot of warmth, but finish off with a fur vest to give you additional warmth, but still looking really chi. The red bag should give you a little pop of color, plus keep the jewelry to a minimum. The neutral short combat lace-up should give a ton of comfort for walking around.

SCENARIO TWO: It's the work week again. You work in a casual setting where you don't need to wear office attire all the time. You have meetings all day long, and you have to run in and out of the office.

Start off with a tank top and some jeans. I really like adding a tank as a first layer because it add warmth to your body, but none of the bulk. Then add a flowy shirt - if you have a shirt with some cute detailing in front, all the better (tuck in the short so it looks more polished). Then add a vest with some interesting embellishment or detailing to it. It'll be a smart and stylish layer to add - then belt it up for definition. Finally add your favorite leather or faux leather jacket, coupled with a light colored scarf and some modest height heeled ankle boot.

SCENARIO THREE: Date night! Ugh, but its so cold... how to dress to impress....??

Again, start off with your trusty tank, plus a good warm tights. This first layer will only work if your dress can hide the tank underneath. Then put on your dress, I like flowy dresses. Where's the warmth? Add a really nice dressy blazer or jacket (but nothing too bulky, something you'd wear on a summer night) - I chose a sequin cardigan. Final outer layer is a fur coat. I just love fur coats for dressier occasions. Pair it with a dangly earrings (that's it for the jewelry), a nice pop color small bagette, and a high-heel bootie.

Hope this helps someone with winter time layering dilemmas.
