Spring time today, gone tomorrow

It was such a nice day yesterday here in NY... so very spring-like actually breaking into summer. high 70s!

Then today came - all rainy and chilly... the weather needs to make up its mind. I guess you really do need to enjoy the weather when it comes because tomorrow will be a different story.

Outfit Du Jour: Blame It On The Weatherman

According to the weather forecast for today, temperature will be in the high 40s to 50s, but will feel like mid 40s...

What I have come to realize is not to trust the weatherman. Time and time again, I have been let down by these so-called "accurate" forecasts. It felt nothing like 40s today, it feels like damn 30s!

Needless to say, I was freezing my ass... or should I say "legs" off! I need to get me one of those thermometer that reads inside and outside temperature.

{wholesale-dress.net shirt, black jeans, Steve Madden Boots, Forever 21 Belt, H&M crochet hat}

From lazy Sundays to lazy Mondays. Don't you just hate Mondays?! I know I do! I know this outfit isn't as blog worthy as others' but I guess I just want to show how waking up late on Mondays without any outfit plans can result to.

Outfit Du Jour: Back to Coldsville

Just when you thought it was almost spring time, the cold comes creeping back in. Regardless, I really wanted to wear the new top that I got from Marshalls... its a really nice sweater with lace inserts on the shoulder area, as well as back. I thought this was really pretty and romantic looking and this will definitely get a ton of wear from me.

Sorry for the picture quality and lighting... I'm taking photos through the reflection of my full length mirror. I don't know how else to do it! I have to do it quick in the morning and rush out to work... ☺

Top: Marshalls. Jeggings: from work. Boots: from work. Necklace: Brooklyn flea market.

Here's me with my hair up.

Toodles!

Outfit Du Jour: Spring-Like Weather

Finally we are having some pretty decent weather here in New York. I'm getting so tired of winter and I just can't wait to be able to wear my lighter weight jackets again.

So taking advantage of the nice weather, we went out to grab a late lunch and have a stroll. My BF wanted to go try out the newly opened Dallas BBQ at the mall, so perfect opportunity to go try it out today.

Wearing: Banana Republic Leather Jacket, Unnecessary Clothing Top, Denim Shorts, Black Tights, Zara Flat Boot, Leopard scarf

The new Dallas BBQ was humongous! We were seated near the front, so it still stretches out to the back.

We had a virgin Pina Coladas and Passion Fruit drink - Texas Size! 20oz of drink! Gigantic. lols

Winter Fashion: Layering

Winter time is here! Your closet is probably now filled with sweaters, sweater dresses, thick knit tights, winter jackets, and so on.

One of the most difficult part of the winter season is figuring out how to stay warm but still looking nice and stylish. Some would not be as willing to sacrifice their warmth just to look stylish, so the easiest thing to do is to just pile on clothing and get it over with.

But there's really no need to sacrifice. There are easy ways to layer clothing - keeping you nice and warm, but still looking pretty and stylish.

I've come up with three scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: It's the weekend. It too cold to go outside, but you really want to go to the mall, and besides, its just nearby. Or you really want to try this new restaurant everyone has been raving about, its just a few block away. Although you are only going a short distance to your house, its no excuse to go out almost in your pajamas. Your destination may be nearby, but no one knows that but you.

Start off with a tank top and some legging - This will be the first layer. Then add a long flowy cardigan over the tank to create some dimension. The Third layer will be to add a thick knit sweater. These three layers should really give you a lot of warmth, but finish off with a fur vest to give you additional warmth, but still looking really chi. The red bag should give you a little pop of color, plus keep the jewelry to a minimum. The neutral short combat lace-up should give a ton of comfort for walking around.

SCENARIO TWO: It's the work week again. You work in a casual setting where you don't need to wear office attire all the time. You have meetings all day long, and you have to run in and out of the office.

Start off with a tank top and some jeans. I really like adding a tank as a first layer because it add warmth to your body, but none of the bulk. Then add a flowy shirt - if you have a shirt with some cute detailing in front, all the better (tuck in the short so it looks more polished). Then add a vest with some interesting embellishment or detailing to it. It'll be a smart and stylish layer to add - then belt it up for definition. Finally add your favorite leather or faux leather jacket, coupled with a light colored scarf and some modest height heeled ankle boot.

SCENARIO THREE: Date night! Ugh, but its so cold... how to dress to impress....??

Again, start off with your trusty tank, plus a good warm tights. This first layer will only work if your dress can hide the tank underneath. Then put on your dress, I like flowy dresses. Where's the warmth? Add a really nice dressy blazer or jacket (but nothing too bulky, something you'd wear on a summer night) - I chose a sequin cardigan. Final outer layer is a fur coat. I just love fur coats for dressier occasions. Pair it with a dangly earrings (that's it for the jewelry), a nice pop color small bagette, and a high-heel bootie.

Hope this helps someone with winter time layering dilemmas.

Winter Fashion from Japan

Well... Japanese magazines, that is...
I love looking through Japanese and Korean magazines. There's really a different vibe being given by Asian magazines - more fun and quirky. Not to say that they lack of content, but they just make the pages more colorful and fun - like something you would make yourself if you were to put a personal look book.

Oh, and let's not forget their odd ball advertisements... lunchbox anyone? ♥

Here's some winter fashion inspiration from the December issues of CanCam, ViVi, JJ and others.

Smart Item: Ruffled Flounce Top

I was in the mood for some small shopping a while ago, so I strolled down the stores near my workplace. I didn't want to spend all that much so I just went to Forever 21, mainly to just look around, grab some stuff, and leave them there (this is how I cure my shopping hype vs. frugality - makes me feel like I actually shopped but not really).

I came across this great top from their Fabulous Finds collection. Its a really cute flouncy ruffled top, very reasonably priced at $13.50 (See it here). Before I actually bought the top, I stood there and try to come up with some outfits I can pull with this single top.

In conclusion, I bought the top. I thought it was versatile enough to wear with many different outfits.

To give you some inspiration or ideas on how to wear this top, you may look at some outfits I put together.

RUFFLED TOP PAIRED WITH SHORTS

LOOK#1 - The top paired with your regular blue (denim) shorts, tucked in, and paired with a chunky dark colored heel can make the look dressy enough for after work dinner or movie date.

LOOK#2 - The same top paired with the same shorts, tucked in, and paired with a dark colored menswear looking flats (english oxfords, or any flats really) creates a more casual look but not overly casual that you will look sloppy.

RUFFLED TOP PAIRED WITH CROPPED PANTS

LOOK# 1 - The top tucked in with cropped pants creates a more formal and pulled together look. Paired with a somewhat light colored peep-toe heel (anything you already have) elevates the look even more. It can be worn to work, interview, meetings, but still be playful enough to wear to dinner or movies.

LOOK# 2 - The same top with the same cropped pants, paired with menswear inspired flats (or any pointy flats for that matter) makes the look more casual but still pulled together enough to be worn to work.

RUFFLED TOP PAIRED WITH JEANS

For this collection of looks, I wanted to show the top un-tucked.

LOOK# 1 - Even with the top un-tucked and paired with your everday light wash skinnies, the look can still be as pulled together as it was when paired with the cropped pants. Mixing the look with a t-strap wedge (or any wedge you may have) balances the fluonciness the top creates when un-tucked - if you have a cute colored wedge, all the better to make the look more interesting.

LOOK# 2 - So this top is not all about "formality" or "pulled together". The cut and silhouette itself should be easy and fun. You can pair the top with your everyday skinnies, plus your everyday chucks or sneakers and you can still create a good outfit - Simple and Casual

LOOK# 3 (BONUS) - The outfit that you can create with this top is endless. A very smart item indeed. PLUS, it can go from summer, right into fall. The F21 top has a mauve-ish pink color that is perfect for fall. Just wear it with your fall jacket, and your trusty boots, and your all set.

Please let me know what you guys think. xo Ciao
