I Miss Fashionair

Whatever happened to Fashionair...

Watching Fashionair used to be a Friday ritual for me... Once I get home, I change to something more comfy, sit down in front of my computer and full blast my computer speakers watching 7 days of chic, Style Profile, Closet Quickhit, and many more... those were the days....

I hope Fashionair comes back soon. Either that or someone else take over!!!

Zara Online Store: Coming Soon

I guess its official! Zara's finally joining the E-Commerce world!

It appears though that service to the USA is being put on hold for now. Boohoo...

Hopefully it won't take long for Zara to start branching out their service and reach us here in the US.

All the Rage Today: William Rast for Target

While browsing around the fashion blog world, there is one topic that is constant in most: the William Rast for Target announcement!

Personally, I think its great! I'm not a particular fan of the brand, but I do dig their wearable hip-street-chic designs. Also, they're also going to be releasing a Men's collection, which I think is a pretty awesome idea!

The collection is set to debut for the holidays on Dec. 19, 2010 thru January 22, 2011.

If the collection is anything like their 2010 F/W collection, this is something worth waking up for!

Boston: So Fresh and Clean

This past weekend, we ventured northbound toward Boston, MA. It was a long overdue trip, Boston is afterall a significant part of the US history and everyone at some point need to visit Boston and pay respect to our forefathers - for if it weren't for them, who knows where we are today.

Just Learned to Play a Song!

I just learned to play Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" on the Guitar.. I'm so Happy!

I've been trying very hard to learn to play and finish a song on the guitar, and I'm so happy I've found this song is very basic and easy enough even for me.

The chords are really very basic... D A Em G... that's it! Any beginner can definitely learn to play and finish this song.

Maybe I'll post a video on my cover someday. For now, I'll post below the chords so other people can learn to play this song as well.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

CAPO ON THIRD ( I thought it sounded better on third, but you can place capo on fourth too)

D

D A
You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset
Em
She's going off about something that you said
G
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do
D A
I'm in the room it's a typical Tuesday night
Em
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
G
And she'll never know your story like I do

Em G
But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts
D A
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Em G
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
A
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time

D
If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
A Em
Been here all along, so why can't you see?
G D
You belong with me, you belong with me

D A
Walkin' the streets with you and your worn out jeans
Em
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be
G
Laughing on a park bench, thinking to myself
Hey isn't this easy

D A
And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town
Em
I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down
You say you're fine, I know you better then that
G
Hey whatcha doing with a girl like that

Em G
She wears high heels, I wear sneakers
D A
Shes cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Em G
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
A
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time

D
If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
A Em
Been here all along, so why can't you see?
G
You belong with me
D
Standing by and waiting at your back door
A Em
All this time how could you not know, baby
G
You belong with me, you belong with me

D A Em G

Em
Oh I remember you drivin' to my house
G
In the middle of the night
D
I'm the one who makes you laugh
A
When you know you're about to cry
Em
And I know your favorite songs
G
And you tell me about your dreams
D
Think I know where you belong
A
Think I know it's with me

D
Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you
A Em
Been here all along, so why can't you see?

Mini Shopping Trip

I went shopping a few days ago, a bit of retail therapy I suppose. One of the drawback with working by the garment district PLUS a tourist destination in New York... tons and tons of stores! All of which are tempting you with all their big ass SALE signs. I finally gave in...

ZARA

They're having a huge sale... they go as low as $7.99 for the clothing, which are really awesome for Zara. As with all Zara sales, it always looks like a storm had gone through the racks and the tables and its really tough to navigate, not to mention the super long lines. But here's what I came out with:

They also had tons of shoes but sizes are hard to come by. Hope few other people got lucky.

CONWAY STORE

Conway is a local store here in New York. They're in the same price range as Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe... we call them off-priced retail. These stores aren't anything fancy, but given I'm really not looking to buy investment pieces, they're fine with me. They actually have really nice fashionable items and very reasonably priced for frugal people like me!

p.s. this post does not have the intention to brag but to show you guys what's out there in the stores.

New York Summer Restaurant Week - July 12 thru 25

The New York Restaurant Week is easily one of my favorite events in the big apple. Me and my boyfriend enjoy eating out and occasionally eating fancy. However, great restaurants comes with great prices too. The Restaurant Week allows us to enjoy great food without having the need to consume the food up to the point of licking of crumbs (lol, just kidding).

The 2010 Summer Restaurant Week runs from July 12th to 25th. Lunch costs about $25.00 and Dinner costs $35.00 (before tax) for all participating restaurants.

Ofcourse this is an opportunity for us to try out new restaurant. With so much restaurants here in New York, the choices are endless.

This time we decided to try out Tribeca Grill (co-owned by Robert DeNiro) at downtown Tribeca area. The menu looked amazing and that's what made us decide to try it out.

And then, my boyfriend surprised me as he made another reservation before the restaurant week ends. We will dine again at Megu located still at downtown Tribeca area. Megu is the home of the famous Kobe Beef, which happens to be on the Dinner Menu! I'm super excited to try it out! Plus, Megu has one of the best interiors I've seen.

Photos taken from Megu's website

I will post some reviews and photos afterward to share our experience.

The CIty: Season FInale

I admit... I watch The City . . . .  Religuoisly!

I like The City better than The Hills because they show a part of the fashion industry that is not well known to many. Fashion is a business.. and its a cut throat and stressful industry to be in. It's not all glamorous and parties and fun. I especially love Kelly! Her personality is very typical in the fashion industry, and she's what you have to be to survive. The City also covers scenes of what Whitney goes thru to put her brand out there, what Erin and company does in the magazine business, etc. It gives us a glimpse of different roles of people in fashion. Unlike The Hills, where its just all about their relationship and life problems, The City actually have more substance (in my opinion).

Yesterday was the season finale.. I have to say.. I would never include it in my top 10 best season finale ever (no, i'm just kidding.. i don't have a top 10.. ). When the episode was over, my initial reaction was "that was it? WTF!" lol...

There have been rumors that this will be the last season of The City (together with The Hills). However, the way the season finale ended, I'm feeling like there's more... atleast I'm hoping there's more!

Anyway, I'm liking Whitney's lip color in the scene where she's speaking to Kelly about the whole mix-up of who-fired-who and Kelly not liking wasting her time defending her company. If anyone can identify what she was wearing, I would very much like to know what it was... make-up gurus out there?? :)

Gabe Bondoc - Love Story (cover of Taylor Swift's song)

I am in love with Gabe Bondoc's version of "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. He went the extra mile and actually changed the lyrics to be suited to a guy's perspective. Plus, I love how soothing his voice is.

The video is kind of old. But then I didn't have a blog before, and I really wanted to share this.

Eclipse: The Movie

It's a sweltering day today.99º felt like 150º... Our solution is going to the movies!

Me and my boyfriend went to see Eclipse. I've been a fan of the Twilight series since before it became a big hit. I'm a fan but not a crazy fanatic... I don't go crazy over Edward or Jacob (though I prefer Edward over Jacob), but Bella does sometimes annoy me especially the scenes where she's fishing off two sides of the boat. lol

My thoughts on the movie... I actually liked it better than the first two. It captured more of the story and explained the details more, like the legends, the characters' history and backgrounds, and more. I suppose the fact that there are more action and more happenings counted too. They've also captured many of the wit and sarcasm that Stephenie Meyer input in her characters, which I liked very much. I also happen to think Kristen Stewart looks prettier.

The one thing I really don't like ever since the first movie came out, OVER MUSHY AND CHEESY. My boyfriend is gagging over Jacob and Edward's lines... and he's actually a romantic. I think its fine here and there, but he is right... there are too much scenes with too much mushy lines. I don't remember the book being overly mushy. I don't know, maybe its just us. lol

Overall, I really liked the movie and I can't wait for the next one. You guys should go see it, regardless if you're a fan or not, its a nice movie to watch.

S/S 2011 Color Direction

The fashion business really is very different than just doing some shopping. There's so much work involved, it's definitely not glamorous as other people might think, and you only get a short window in order to get it right and make a big sale, or you go bust. It's a huge industry and huge business... very stressful at times. However, its not all bad. Its also very rewarding when you see your work out in the market, and this for me makes it all worth it.

During the last few days, I've been doing some research on color directions for Spring/Summer 2011 as well as Autumn/Winter 2011/2012. Part of my job is to be on top of the trends so from time to time I do some research on trends in order to stay in the same direction as the market.

Since WGSN is just really way expensive, I have to be creative with my research. I've come across a report from the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) - a free report which is really very informative. They've reported the following trends for Spring/Summer 2011:

PLEASURES

FEEL: Romantic, escape the real world, fresh, sensitive and poetic

JUNGLE FEVER

FEEL: Wild, Paradise, Beach, Free

ELEGANCE

FEEL: Seduction, Precious, Rarity, Unique

COLORFUL WONDERLAND

FEEL: Simple, Happy, Stress-free, Care-free, Musical, Pretty
